Franz-Josef (Josch) Hambsch (b. 1957) is a retired nuclear physicist, who worked for the Joint Research Centre in Geel, Belgium from 1984 to 2018. An active variable star observer, he has participated in many scientific research projects. Hambsch discovered the first white-dwarf pulsar AR Sco.
