Frederick “Fritz” Perls (1893-1970) was a German physician and psychiatrist who moved to the U.S. in 1946, where he developed a new method of psychotherapy he called Gestalt Therapy. Two of his books are Gestalt Therapy Verbatim and his autobiography In and Out of the Garbage Pail, both published in 1969.
