As observatory coordinator, Paul Nohr (1939-2006) restored the Cincinnati Observatory's two great telescopes: the 1845 Merz and Mahler and the 1904 Alvan Clark. His role in the restoration led to the observatory's becoming a National Historic Landmark. The name was suggested by F. Bowman.
