Sumizi Hara (1878–1968) provided the means for establishing the Kurashiki {see planet  (4578)} Observatory in 1926 and for operating it thereafter. The observatory is open to the general public and was the first of its kind in Japan. Hara was awarded many prizes, including “Honorary Citizen of Kurashiki City”. (M 41383) _ _.
