Takashi Yanase (b. 1919) is one of the most renowned cartoonists in Japan. Since the 1940s he has created many works, including his immortal masterpiece “Anpanman”. Yanase serves as an honorary director of the Anpanman Museum, which was constructed by his hometown, Kahoku, Kochi Prefecture.
